This week was an adventure of sorts for us. On Wednesday Claire became ill and was not able to go to school for the first time. Since she was not keeping milk down and was not her happy self we were very concerned and went to see the doctor. They felt that Claire had a stomach bug and sent us on our way. We returned to the doctors on Thursday for Claire's 6 month checkup and shots. She was a trooper about her shots and weighed in at 12 lbs 9.5 oz- the 4th percentile, but she was at the 46th percentile for length! It was a long week for us as Claire truly did not start feeling better until Saturday morning. Due to her illness she missed her first swim class, but we hope to catch up next week (keep your fingers crossed they did not teach the butterfly stroke or we will never catch up!).
Luckily she was feeling better and able to make it to her first Rockies Game on Sunday to hang out with her friends- Grant, Brady, Alba, Scotia, and Brett. It was a great game despite the heat and the fact that they lost. Claire slept through a majority of the game, but was awake for the most important part - the singing during the 7th inning stretch.
On Monday, we celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary by taking a trip up to Echo Lake to enjoy a picnic on the shore with Claire and Sparky. It was great to get out and enjoy the sunshine with the family.

A day with Alba
On Saturday Claire spent some time with her friend Alba at Wash Park and then they enjoyed their first time in a pool together. It was a great day for the girls and their parents.

Rolling Back to Front!
Lately Claire has been waking up on her tummy despite the fact that we put her in her crib fully swaddled and on her back. We have known that she had the ability to roll over back to front, but had never witnessed it until tonight. We set her down on the floor on her back while we were changing her crib sheet. When we turned around she was on her tummy. It took us a minute to realize that she had rolled over. Of course we then turned her back over to see if she would show off her new skill. She did quite a few times and we captured one on video. It was a treat to watch her combine all of her rolling skills and roll across the room!

Finger Painting
This week is teacher appreciation week at school and Claire has been busy making her teachers presents. Tonight Claire finger painted the paper that we will use to make their cards. We put some paint on a plate and let her do the rest. She seemed to really enjoy the texture of the paint.
By the end she was covered in paint and needed a bath, which she seemed to enjoy too.

Happy Mother's Day!
For Mother's Day we spent the day at the zoo. We started off by eating brunch overlooking the Elephants, then it was off to visit all the animals.
The mountain goat mommy kept pawing the kid to keep him from lying down for a nap.
We took Claire into the Lorikeets enclosure for some close up encounters with the cute and bright birds.
Claire is not quite as a tall as a polar bear yet...
Claire had stayed awake and attentive all day, but as we were walking out of the zoo she passed out. It was the perfect first Mother's Day and we are looking forward to this yearly tradition.

Our Little Artist
Tonight we attended Claire's first Art Show and Sale. She has been working very hard at school over the last month and tonight we had a chance to see her artwork displayed and to purchase her piece. We hope you enjoy the photos as much as we enjoyed the show.
Claire on her class board above the giraffe which the class painted while at the same time learning about taking turns.
Claire's artwork on display at the show. Her artist card read " Claire loves to hear her teachers sing songs. to her. She also loves to smile and play with her friends" The value of her artwork was listed as priceless, which we totally agree with (although we were able to snag it at a bargain price of $20 - for Charity)
